Legends of the Sea
Experiential Graphic Design
A unique symbol system created by following a structured approach to research, taxonomy, process methodology, logic, and user comprehension. The symbol system was later used to develop an immersive storytelling exhibition.
The Legends of the Sea exhibition highlights the impact of storytelling by exploring the origins and tales of nine sea legends. This sensory-driven experience features narratives told by historians and take-home print books that guide visitors through alluring exhibits.

Deliverables
Sea Legend exhibit spaces
To study each exhibit space I explored three sea legends when developing the graphic language for the symbol system. A speaker station would be placed in the center to establish the speaker as the focal point in each space.
speaker station installation
To enhance interactions between the historian speakers and users, a speaker station wall would be installed that includes story session information, stickers for the Book of Sea Legends, and a colorful LED display.
The wall would be made of black matte alucabond panels with a laser-cut mask of each sea legend revealing the internally lit gradient light display.
the book of sea legends
By including the speaker schedule & map, exhibit material and utilizing a sticker catalog system, The Book of Sea Legends is a useful tool in organizing, planning and remembering the exhibition experience.
